29 Mar Putney Dental Surgery COVID-19 Update
Dental and oral health is of paramount importance for your overall wellbeing during the current Coronavirus pandemic.
The best approach to managing this pandemic is to take all possible good hygiene measures to avoid contracting the infection. It is also equally important to maintain good overall health and immunity to fight off the virus should you get infected.
In an effort to support national efforts to fight the COVID- 19 pandemic, our practice is taking the following steps to help assure your health and well-being and that of our community:
• We are following directives from the Australian Dental Association and Infection Control Committee as a way to limit patient and staff exposure to this virus.
• Your health, and the health of our dedicated staff, matters to us, so going forward until further notice we will restrict our surgery hours to Tuesday 9am – 6pm, Wednesday 9am – 6pm and Saturday 9am – 12noon
• We will suspend all non-urgent and elective dental procedures
• Patients will be seen only for ongoing essential care, urgent and emergency dental needs.
We will contact you soon to reschedule routine check-up appointments. If you are already scheduled, we will contact you the day before your appointment to discuss your health status, health screening protocols and confirm whether the appointment should be kept.
We will continue to monitor and will exercise clinical judgement to determine whether to provide care in the context of:
• your specific dental needs
• your overall health
• the ability to provide dental care safely for patients and our dental team members
• the current COVID-19 situation in our area
• the availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Our Practice has always followed state-of-the-art infection control protocols and we are taking these additional steps to protect both you and our staff.
1. All patients to use the hand sanitizer at reception desk upon entry and exit of the premises
2. Waiting room seats have been spaced out to abide by the 1.5m distancing
3. Appointments will be spaced out to avoid a busy waiting room
4. You will be required to take a 30second pre-treatment anti-bacterial rinse prior to treatment
5. Types of treatment we perform will be limited to emergency dental and oral needs
6. The Eftpos keypad is wiped with alcohol after each person
7. The front sliding door and all doors are regularly disinfected with alcohol
8. No hand shaking
9. Thorough disinfection of the premises every day
My team is trained and accustomed to a very high level of infection control.
The safety and well-being of our patients and staff continues to be our primary concern. We will continue to monitor the status of COVID-19 nationally and within our community and keep you up-to-date regarding our plans to reopen for business as usual.
Let’s all look after ourselves at these unprecedented times. Keep performing your home dental care routines and stay healthy.
