13 Oct Get Ready to Raise a Glass to a Cavity Free Future
World Cavity Free Future Day
Saturday October 14 2017
Dental caries (cavities) is the most common chronic disease on the planet, despite being largely preventable. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), worldwide 60–90% of school children and nearly 100% of adults suffer from cavities, which can dramatically impact the sufferers’ quality of life through pain and discomfort, missed days or decreased participation in school and work.
Sugar-enriched food and drinks are freely available and make up a significant part of many Australians’ diet. The consumption of sugary food and drinks can lead to dental decay.

Dr Patel and her team stresses the importance of brushing twice a day for two minutes and reducing sugar intake. This includes sugars in both unhealthy foods, such as sweets or fizzy drinks, as well as “hidden sugars”, found in healthy foods such as fruit, vegetables, or yogurt.
We are here to help individuals understand the importance of taking control of their oral health and reducing the number of people who develop cavities and helping secure a cavity-free future for generations to come.
Dental decay is almost 100 per cent preventable and some behavioural changes such as drinking water instead of sugary drinks can result in a marked change in dental decay rates.
It’s never too late to start looking after your teeth and given you a cavity-free future. Call to make an appointment today
