Bad Breath

Tongue cleaning with a specially designed tongue cleaner is the most effective way to beat bad breath by reducing the number of VSC producing bacteria in the tongue coating.

Mouthwashes further reduce the number of bacteria in the mouth and help combat halitosis.

Sugar-free chewing gum increases saliva flow and help combat a dry mouth.

Other causes of halitosis include sinusitis and tonsillitis where mucus is attacked by bacteria in the throat or nose to produce VSC’s. Other diseases like diabetes and hepatitis can also sometimes be a contributing factor in halitosis. Disturbances of the digestive system may cause bad breath but the stomach is not generally the main source. Eating foods such as onions and garlic will result in bad breath however this is temporary and can be minimised by brushing after eating or using breath fresheners.
